Composition:
Each 1 ml of solution contains:
Pipasevate hydrochloride 40 mg.
Properties:
Selgon is a centrally acting cough suppressant, which also has some peripheral effect in unproductive coughs. It starts to work within 10-30 minutes, and its effect lasts for several hours. Selgon has the advantage that it is nonaddictive and also does not cause respiratory depression.
Indications:
Unproductive, irritating and spastic cough; for example, smokers’ coughs and cold symptoms that include an unproductive cough.
Method of administration and dosage:
Children under 2 years old:
4 drops 3 times a day.
Children 2-6 years old:
8 drops, 3 times a day.
Children 6-12 years old:
10 drops, 3 times a day.
Children over 12 years old and adults:
15-25 drops, 3 times a day.
Take drops with sugar or liquid (juice, tea, milk, etc.).
Contraindications:
Patients with sugar intolerance.
Precautions:
Selgon can cause drowsiness, therefore, patients who drive vehicles or machinery should be warned.
Side effects:
Drowsiness, nausea, anxiety, insomnia, urticaria.
Storage method:
At a temperature not higher than 30 degrees.
