Composition:
Ibuprofen – 400 mg.
Excipients:
Corn starch, magnesium stearate, Opaglos Regular (NA-7150), acacia, sucrose, calcium sulfate, sodium CMC, Opalux Pink AS-1537, hard paraffin, talc, Opacode S-1-2779 (black).
Description:
Brufen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), a derivative of propionic acid. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties.
Indications:
Rheumatoid arthritis, periarticular conditions (capsulitis, bursitis, tendinitis, tenosynovitis), lower back pain. Soft tissue injuries (sprains, strains). Mild to moderate pain (dysmenorrhea, dental pain, postoperative pain, migraine headache).
Dosage:
Take orally during or after meals with plenty of fluid. Do not chew the tablets. Adults and children over 12 years: 1200–1800 mg/day in divided doses. Maintenance dose: 600–1200 mg/day. Maximum daily dose: 2400 mg.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or excipients. Previous hypersensitivity to aspirin or other NSAIDs. History of GI bleeding or perforation, peptic ulcer. Bleeding tendency. Cardiovascular disease. Severe hepatic, renal, or cardiac failure. Third trimester of pregnancy.
Precautions:
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Systemic use for more than 10 days only under medical supervision. Long-term therapy requires monitoring of blood counts, liver, and kidney function. Avoid use during chickenpox due to risk of severe complications. May temporarily impair female fertility.
Adverse effects:
Rare: hematopoietic disorders, allergic reactions, asthma, skin reactions (urticaria, rash, angioedema, Stevens–Johnson syndrome), tachycardia, hypotension, abdominal pain, nausea, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, GI bleeding, gastritis, colitis exacerbation, hepatic and renal dysfunction, headache, aseptic meningitis, heart failure, edema, hypertension. Long-term use increases risk of myocardial infarction and stroke.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Contraindicated in the third trimester. In the first and second trimester — use only under medical supervision at minimal doses. Excreted in breast milk; breastfeeding should be discontinued during treatment.
Storage conditions:
Store below 30 °C, in a dry place, protected from light, out of reach of children.
