Properties:

The antifungal effect of isoconazole, as a polyene antibiotic, is due to a violation of the integrity of the fungal cell membrane, but the mechanism of action is different. The drug disrupts the synthesis of ergosterol, the main structural component of the cell membrane of fungi. The effect is associated with inhibition of cytochrome P450-dependent enzymes, incl. 14-alpha-demethylase (catalyses the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol), which leads to disruption of the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane.

Indications:

– fungal infections of the vagina, incl. mixed infections caused by gram-positive bacteria.

Dosage and administration:

Intravaginally. A vaginal suppository is inserted deep into the vagina. It is best to do this in the supine position, in the evening, just before bedtime, 1 time / day once. For ease of insertion, the included fingertips should be used. Treatment should not be carried out during menstruation.

Contraindications:

– hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the auxiliary components.

Not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age due to insufficient data on the use in this age group.

Precautionary measures:

For the treatment of fungal infections of the external genital organs or for the simultaneous prophylactic treatment of the sexual partner, it is recommended to use an antifungal cream.

It is not recommended to douche during treatment, as well as within a week after treatment.

To prevent re-infection, it is recommended to change and boil personal linen daily (towels, underwear – preferably made of cotton).

Side effects:

When using the drug, local reactions may occur, such as soreness, burning and itching. In rare cases, it is possible to develop allergic reactions at the site of application of the drug.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees.
