Composition: Secnidazole - 1 g

Pharmacological properties:

Secnidazole is a derivative of 5-nitroimidazole with prolonged action:

1. Antiprotozoal action:
• Effective against Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia, Trichomonas vaginalis
2. Antibacterial action:
• Active against anaerobic bacteria (Bacteroides, Clostridium, Gardnerella vaginalis)
• Disrupts the DNA structure of microorganisms, leading to their death
3. Ease of use:
• Long half-life allows single use

Indications for use:

• Amebiasis (intestinal and extraintestinal)
• Giardiasis
• Trichomoniasis
• Bacterial vaginosis
• Infections caused by anaerobic bacteria (as prescribed by a doctor)

Method of administration and dosage:

• Adults:
— Usually 2 tablets (2 g) orally once, during or after meals
• For trichomoniasis:
— Both partners take the drug at the same time
• For amoebiasis and giardiasis:
— A course of 2 g once a day for 3 days is possible (as prescribed by a doctor)
The tablets should be taken orally, without chewing, with a sufficient amount of water.
Alcohol is contraindicated during treatment and for 72 hours after administration.
