Praziquantel 600mg

Auxiliary components: corn starch, polyvinylpyrolidone, sodium lauryl sulfate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol titanium dioxide.

Praziquantel causes a rapid contraction of schistosomes (a type of parasite), having a specific effect on the permeability of the cell membrane. The drug also causes vacuolization and disintegration of schistosomal tegum.

for the treatment of infections caused by all types of schistosomes (for example, Schistosoma mekongi, Schistosorna japonicum, Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma hematobium), as well as infections caused by liver flu.

The recommended dosage for the treatment of schistosomiasis is 20 mg / kg body weight 3 times a day as a one-day treatment at intervals of 4-6 hours. The recommended dose for clonorchiasis and opisthorchiasis is: 25 mg / kg body weight 3 times a day as a one-day treatment, at intervals of 4-6 hours. The tablets should be taken with water during meals.

dose adjustment for renal impairment is not considered necessary. Elderly patients with reduced kidney function may be at risk of toxic reactions to this drug. Caution should be exercised when prescribing the usual recommended dose to patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment, an increase in the activity of liver enzymes may occur. Patients with heart problems should be monitored. Safety in children under 4 years of age has not been established.

Side effects are mild, do not require treatment, as biltricide is very well tolerated.

It was observed: malaise, headache, dizziness, abdominal discomfort with or without nausea, fever and rarely urticaria. Such symptoms can also be the result of the infection itself.

Pregnancy and lactation: should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed after consulting a doctor. Praziquantel is determined in the milk of lactating women, so you should not breastfeed during treatment and for the next 72 hours.
