Composition:

• Active ingredient:

Racecadotril — 100 mg per capsule.

Hidrasec 100 mg is an antidiarrheal medication with peripheral antisecretory action. It is used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and children. It does not affect intestinal motility and does not cause constipation.

Pharmacological properties:

• Racecadotril inhibits enkephalinase, an enzyme that breaks down endogenous enkephalins in the intestine
• This reduces the excessive secretion of water and electrolytes into the intestinal lumen without affecting peristalsis
• It has no sedative effect and no antibacterial activity.

Indications for use:

• Acute diarrhea in adults (as part of symptomatic therapy)
• Chronic diarrhea (as prescribed by a doctor)
• May be used in conjunction with rehydration therapy.

Dosage and administration:

Adults are usually prescribed:

• 1 capsule (100 mg) three times a day until symptoms resolve
• The capsule should be taken before meals with water.

Treatment typically does not exceed 7 days. Oral rehydration is recommended simultaneously, especially in cases of dehydration.
