Neximash 40 mg 14 capsules
Composition:
Each hard gelatin capsule contains:
Esomeprazole – 40 mg.
Properties:
Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), the S-isomer of omeprazole, which reduces gastric acid secretion.
Indications:
Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD);
Adjunctive treatment (4 to 8 weeks) of erosive esophagitis and GERD symptoms (such as heartburn);
Maintenance therapy for symptom relief and healing of erosive esophagitis for up to 6 months;
Treatment of patients with Helicobacter pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease;
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome;
Patients requiring long-term NSAID therapy – healing of gastric ulcers, prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers associated with NSAID therapy.
Dosage and Administration:
For adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older:
Capsules should be swallowed whole with half a glass of water, with or without food.
For patients unable to swallow capsules, they can be opened and the contents mixed with water.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) treatment:
40 mg once daily for 4 weeks.
For prevention of relapse and symptomatic treatment of GERD:
20 mg once daily.
Maintenance therapy:
20 mg once daily.
Adults, in combination with antibiotics for H. pylori eradication and prevention of peptic ulcer recurrence in ulcer patients:
20 mg esomeprazole with 1 g amoxicillin and 500 mg clarithromycin twice daily for 7 days.
Healing of NSAID-associated gastric ulcers:
20 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks.
Prevention of NSAID-associated gastric and duodenal ulcers:
20 mg once daily.
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome:
Initial dose of 40 mg twice daily. Dosage should be individually adjusted and treatment continued as clinically indicated. Most patients can be controlled with doses of 80–160 mg per day in two divided doses.
For patients with severe hepatic impairment:
Maximum dose of esomeprazole is 20 mg.
Contraindications:
Children under 12 years;
Hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or any other components of the medication;
Pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions:
Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy may be associated with an increased risk of hip, wrist, or spine fractures related to osteoporosis during long-term treatment with high doses.
Side Effects:
Headache, dizziness, diarrhea, flatulence, abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, skin reactions (flushing, itching), burning/tingling/numbness, drowsiness, dry mouth, swelling of hands and feet, elevated liver enzymes, blurred vision, depression, irritability, confusion, altered taste, hair loss, joint and muscle pain, excessive sweating.
Storage:
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C in the original packaging, in a dry place out of reach of children.
Packaging:
Cardboard box containing 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 blisters of 7 capsules each, with a paper leaflet.
