Digestozyme 20 tablets
Ingredients:
Each tablet contains:
Pancreatin 200 mg
Papain 50 mg
Excipients:
Sodium croscarmellose, colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, titanium dioxide, talc.
Properties:
- Pancreatin digests carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. It contains primarily the enzymes amylase, protease, and lipase. They convert starch
into dextrins and simple sugars, proteins into peptones and oligopeptides, and lipids
into fatty acids and glycerol, respectively. Papain, extracted from the Carica papaya fruit, is a proteolytic enzyme that exhibits a broad spectrum of hydrolytic activity, acting on peptides, amides, esters, and thioesters, particularly on bonds containing essential amino acids, which yield peptides with lower molecular weight. Enteric coating ensures complete delivery
of the tablets' enzyme content to the intestines without alteration in the stomach.
Indications:
For the treatment of dyspepsia.
Chronic pancreatitis,
cystic fibrosis, or pancreatectomy.
Dosage and administration:
Take one tablet three times daily with meals.
Contraindications:
Individual intolerance to any of the components of the drug.
Do not take high doses of the drug in patients with cystic fibrosis.
Precautions:
The safety of pancreatin during pregnancy has not been adequately studied. Use is possible when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Side effects:
Possible: allergic reactions, diarrhea or constipation, nausea, and epigastric discomfort.
With prolonged use at high doses, hyperuricosuria and increased plasma uric acid levels may develop.
In isolated cases, patients with cystic fibrosis have experienced the formation of ileocecal strictures after taking high doses.
