Protofix 40 mg 14 tablets
Composition (per 1 tablet):
• Pantoprazole — 40 mg.
Protofix 40 mg is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastrointestinal diseases associated with increased acidity. It provides sustained reduction of gastric acid secretion.
Pharmacological properties:
• Pantoprazole blocks the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme in the parietal cells of the stomach
• Suppresses both basal and stimulated acid secretion
• Effect begins within 1–2 hours and lasts up to 24 hours.
Indications:
• Erosive and ulcerative reflux esophagitis
• Severe forms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum
• Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory conditions
• Maintenance therapy in patients with frequent GERD relapses.
Dosage and administration:
Pantoprazole dosage for adults:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD):
Usually prescribed 40 mg orally once daily.
Treatment duration is 8 to 16 weeks depending on symptom severity and response.
Erosive esophagitis:
Initial dose is 40 mg orally once daily for 8–16 weeks.
Maintenance therapy with the same 40 mg once daily dose may be used long-term after remission.
Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory conditions:
Recommended initial dose is 40 mg orally once daily.
Dose may be increased if necessary; maximum daily dose is 240 mg.
Gastric ulcer (off-label use):
40 mg orally once daily for 4 weeks.
Duodenal ulcer disease (off-label use):
40 mg once daily for 2 weeks, with possible extension if needed.
Dosage for children:
Used in children aged 5 years and older.
• Body weight 15–39 kg: 20 mg pantoprazole once daily. Treatment duration up to 8 weeks.
• Body weight 40 kg and above: 40 mg once daily. Treatment duration up to 8 weeks.
