Composition

Per capsule:
Omeprazole — 20 mg.
Excipients: sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium hydrogen sulfate, calcium carbonate, talc, hypromellose, methacrylic acid copolymer.

Product Description:

Pepzol is an anti‑ulcer medication, a proton pump inhibitor.
Omeprazole blocks the H+/K+‑ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, suppressing gastric acid secretion.
In the acidic environment, omeprazole is converted into its active metabolite — sulfenamide, which binds to the enzyme and ensures high selectivity of action.

Indications for Use:

• Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum (acute phase, relapse prevention), including cases associated with Helicobacter pylori (as part of combination therapy).
• Reflux esophagitis (including erosive).
• Hypersecretory conditions (Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, stress ulcers of the GI tract, polyendocrine adenomatous syndrome, systemic mastocytosis).
• Gastropathy caused by non‑steroidal anti‑inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Method of Administration and Dosage:

• Capsules are taken orally in the morning, swallowed whole with water, before meals.
• For peptic ulcer disease, reflux esophagitis, and NSAID‑induced gastropathy: 20 mg once daily.
• In severe reflux esophagitis: up to 40 mg once daily.
• Course of treatment:
  Duodenal ulcer — 2–4 weeks (up to 5 weeks if needed).
  Gastric ulcer, reflux esophagitis, erosive‑ulcerative GI lesions — 4–8 weeks.

Contraindications:

• Pediatric age.
• Pregnancy.
• Breastfeeding period.
• Hypersensitivity to omeprazole or excipients.

Precautions:

Before starting therapy, exclude the presence of malignant disease (especially gastric ulcer), as treatment may mask symptoms and delay diagnosis.
Use with caution in renal and/or hepatic impairment.
Food intake does not affect drug efficacy.

Adverse Reactions / Side Effects:

Gastrointestinal: diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, flatulence.
Skin: rare — rash, itching, photosensitivity, erythema multiforme, alopecia.
Allergic reactions: urticaria, angioedema, fever.

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Contraindicated.

Storage Conditions:

Store at temperatures not exceeding 25 °C, in a dry place, protected from light.

Packaging:

Carton box containing 14 capsules and a package insert.
