Composition:

Each sachet contains:

Dioctahedral smectite (Diosmectite) – 3 g.

Auxiliary components: anhydrous dextrose, sodium saccharin, vanillin powder.

Properties:

Pharmacological group: antidiarrheal agent, adsorbents. Diasmect is a silicate salt of aluminum and magnesium. Due to its multilayer structure and high plastic viscosity, it has the ability to cover and protect the mucous membrane of the digestive system. Interacting with mucus glycoproteins, it increases the resistance of the adhesive mucous gel to aggressors. Does not stain stools, and in normal doses does not alter the physiological transit time of food through the intestines.

Indications:

symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in children and infants, in addition to oral rehydration in adults. Symptomatic treatme of chronic diarrhea in adults. Symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional

bowel disorders in adults.

Mode of application:

treatment of acute diarrhea in infants and children: under 1 year of age: 2 sachets per day for the first 3 days, then 1 sachet per day. From the age of 1 year: 4 sachets per day for the first 3 days, then 2 sachets per day. Adults: an average of 3 sachets per day. At the beginning of treatment, the daily dose may be doubled.

The contents of the sachet must be dissolved before use. It is advisable to take after meals with esophagitis, between meals for other indications. For children and babies, the contents of the sachet can be diluted in a bottle with 50 ml of water, which must be taken during the day or mixed with semi-liquid food: compote, puree, baby food. For adults, the contents of the sachet should be dissolved in 1/2 glass of water.

Contraindications:

hypersensitivity to diosmectite or other auxiliary components of the drug.

Precautions:

Use with caution in patients with severe chronic constipation.

All patients should be informed about the need to drink more fluids to prevent dehydration due to diarrhea (average daily water intake is 2 liters). Food for diarrhea: – Avoid raw vegetables, fruits, green vegetables, spicy foods, and frozen foods or drinks. This medication contains glucose. Its use is not recommended for patients with glucosegalactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase / isomaltase deficiency. In children, treatment of acute diarrhea should be combined with early administration of oral rehydration solution (ORS) to prevent dehydration.

Pregnancy and lactation:

studies of the effect of diosmectite on the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding are not enough, the use is possible only as directed by a doctor.

Side effects:

often gastrointestinal disturbances:

constipation usually disappears with dose reduction, but in rare cases may lead to discontinuation of treatment. Uncommon: rash.

Rare: urticaria. Hypersensitivity reactions (frequency unknown), including rash, pruritus and angioedema. Cases of exacerbation of constipation have also been reported.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30C, out of the reach of children.
