Tradename:
Diax
Composition:
Each capsule contains:
Nifuroxazide 200 mg
Auxiliary components:
Talc, magnesium stearate, aerosil, lactose monohydrate, gelatin, titanium dioxide.
Properties:
Effective against gram-positive (staphylococci, streptococci) and some gram-negative (Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, Escherichia coli) bacteria, does not affect the composition of the normal microflora of the large intestine. Presumably inhibits the activity of dehydrogenases and protein synthesis in bacterial cells. Does not cause the emergence of drug-resistant strains, as well as crossresistance with other antibacterial drugs. The effectiveness of the action does not depend the pH in the intestinal lumen, on the sensitivity of microorganisms to antibiotics. The drug acts exclusively in the intestinal
lumen, since it is practically not absorbed from the digestive tract.
Indications:
Diarrhea (acute and chronic) caused by grampositive (staphylococci and streptococci), as well as some gram-negative (Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, Escherichia coli) bacteria, diarrhea with food intoxication, appendicitis, chronic autoimmune gastritis; diarrhea caused by antibiotic therapy, changes in the natural bacterial flora of the large intestine of various etiologies, diseases accompanied by diarrhea.
Toxic diarrhea caused by gram-negative bacteria (Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella,
Escherichia coli)
Method of administration and dosage:
Adults:
4 capsules per day, divided into 2-4 doses.
Children 6 years and older:

Hypersensitivity (including to 5-nitrofuran derivatives); in children – prematurity and age less than 2 months.
Precautions:
During the treatment of acute diarrhea, it is necessary to replenish the loss of body fluids (orally or parenterally, depending on the patient’s condition).
During the period of therapy, alcohol should not be consumed (it can cause a disulfiram-like reaction).
Due to the lack of data, the manufacturer o Nifuroxazide recommends consulting a doc before using the drug.
It does not negatively affect the psychomotor state of the patient, does not affect the ability to drive transport and service mechanisms.
Side effects:
From the hematopoietic and lymphatic system:
One case of granulocytopenia has been described.
From the gastrointestinal tract:
In cases of individual hypersensitivity to nifuroxazide, abdominal pain, nausea and exacerbation of diarrhea may appear. In the event of the appearance of such symptoms of low intensity, there is no need for special therapy or discontinuation of nifuroxazide. With the development of the above symptoms of significant intensity, you should stop taking the drug. In the future, the patient should not take nitrofuran derivatives.
On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissue:
Allergic reactions may develop (skin rash, urticaria, Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic reactions).
In case of hypersensitivity reactions, such as shortness of breath, swelling of the face, tongue, lips, skin rash, itching, the drug should be discontinued immediately.
In case of adverse reactions, including those not specified in this instruction, you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor.
