About the brand

Stopadol 500 mg 20 tablets

Composition:

Active ingredient: Paracetamol 500 mg

Inactive ingredients: Maize starch, Sorbitol powder, Polyvinyl pyrrolidone K90, Sodium starch glycolate, Magnesium stearate, Purified Talc.

Indication:

For the treatment of mild to moderate pain including headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache, sore throat, period pains, aches and pains, symptomatic relief of rheumatic aches and pains and of influenza, feverishness and feverish colds.

Method of Administration:

Adults, the elderly and young persons over 12 years:

2 tablets every 4 hours to a maximum of 8 tablets in 24 hours. Children 6 - 12 years: ½ to 1 tablet every 4 hours to a maximum of 4 tablets in 24 hours. Do not give to children aged under 6 years.

Contraindication:

Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any of the constituents.

Precautions:

Care is advised in the administration of paracetamol to patients with severe renal or severe hepatic impairment.

The hazards of overdose are greater in those with non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease. 

Do not exceed the stated dose. 

Contains Paracetamol. Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing products. 

If symptoms persist for more than 3 days or get worse consult your doctor. Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well.

Interaction:

Cholestyramine: The speed of absorption of paracetamol is reduced by cholestyramine. Therefore, the cholestyramine should not be taken within one hour if maximal analgesia is required. 

Metoclopramide and Domperidone: The absorption of paracetamol is increased by metoclopramide and domperidone.

However, concurrent use need to be avoided. Wartarin:The anticoagulant effect of warfarin and other coumarins may be enhanced by prolonged regular use of paracetamol with increased risk of bleeding; occasional doses have no significant effect. 

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Epidemiological studies in human pregnancy have shown no ill effects due to paracetamol used in the recommended dosage, but patients should follow the advice of their doctor regarding its use. Paracetamol is excreted in breast milk but not in a clinically significant amount. Available published data do not contraindicate breast feeding.

Side Effects:

Adverse effects of paracetamol are rare but hypersensitivity including skin rash may occur. There have been reports of blood dyscrasias including thrombocytopenia purpura, methaemoglobenaemia and agranulocytosis, but these were not necessarily causality related to paracetamol.

Storage Method:

Store in a dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. 

Keep out of the reach of children.
