Salbovent Forte 20 tablets

Composition

Each tablet contains:

Salbutamol sulphate 4.8 mg (equivalent to 4 mg Salbutamol)

Description

Salbutamol is a β2-adrenergic receptor agonist with bronchodilating effects. It relieves bronchospasm and improves airflow in obstructive airway diseases such as bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.

Indications for Use

Relief of bronchospasm in all types of bronchial asthma

Chronic bronchitis

Emphysema

Indicated for use in adults, adolescents, and children aged 2 years and above.

Dosage and Administration

Adults: 4 mg three to four times daily. If needed, may be increased up to 8 mg. In elderly or sensitive patients, start with 2 mg.

Children:

2–6 years: 1–2 mg three to four times daily

6–12 years: 2 mg three to four times daily

Over 12 years: 2–4 mg three to four times daily

Not recommended for children under 2 years. For oral use only.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to salbutamol or any excipients

Not to be used in threatened miscarriage or uncomplicated premature labor (non-IV forms)

Precautions

Not to be used as the sole treatment in severe or unstable asthma

Increased need for medication may signal worsening asthma; seek medical advice

Caution in patients with ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes

Risk of hypokalemia, especially when used with diuretics, steroids, or xanthines

Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly needed and under medical supervision

Side Effects

Tremor, headache, hyperactivity

Tachycardia, arrhythmias, myocardial ischemia

Nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps

Allergic reactions: urticaria, angioedema, bronchospasm

Hypokalemia, hyperglycemia, lactic acidosis

Pregnancy and Lactation

Use during pregnancy only if considered essential by a physician. Caution is advised during breastfeeding, as salbutamol may be excreted in breast milk.

Storage Conditions

Store below 30°C in a dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
