Properties:

Optaminess is a rich source of essential amino acids that supports normal body functions after hemodialysis.

Amino acids are needed for the production of enzymes, as well as some hormones and neurotransmitters.They’re also involved in numerous metabolic pathways within cells throughout the body.

Hemodialysis removes amino acids from the circulation, thereby lowering plasma AA concentrations and stimulating proteolysis.  That is why it is important to restore the normal amino acids amount, with food or supplements. 

The average loss of free amino acids in the dialysis fluid has been reported to be 5-8 g/dialysis during hemodialysis and 1.2-3.4 g/24 hr during CAPD (18-20). Losses of amino acid during hemodialysis may also contribute to malnutrition. 

Indications:

Dietary supplement used to support the diet of hemodialysis patients with the essential amino acids.

Dosage and administration:

1 tablet daily, or as recommended by your physician

Side effects:

Rare:

-Gastrointestinal distress, such as bloating;

-Abdominal pain;

-Diarrhea;

-Increased risk of gout (buildup of uric acid in the body, leading to joint inflammation);

-Unhealthy drop in blood pressure;

-Changes in eating patterns.

Contraindications:

– phenylketonuria

– hypersensitivity to any component

– alkaptonuria

Warnings and precautions:

• Take this medication exactly as your doctor told you. 
• Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
• Consult a physician if you are pregnant or nursing.
• Used under medical supervision.
• Concurrent use with antidepressant, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIS) tricyclic antidepressant (TCAs) or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI), 5-HT receptor agonists should be avoided.
