Description:
Myogrel-75 is a brand name of Clopidogrel Bisulphate 75 mg Tablet. It is a blood thinner medicine that helps to prevent the formation of harmful blood clots in your blood vessels. This helps to lower the chances of you getting a heart attack or stroke. This medicine is used for the purpose of heart protection.
Medical Description
Antiplatelet agent that belongs to the Thienopyridine group used in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome, Ischemic stroke, ischemic heart disease, percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
Uses and administration: Clopidogrel bisulfate is an Antiplatelet drug that acts by inhibiting adenosine diphosphate-mediated platelet aggregation. It is given prophylactically as an alternative to aspirin in patients at risk of thrombotic stroke and in the management of ntermittent claudication and ischaemic heart disease. It is also used as an adjunct to aspirin for the prevention of subacute stent occlusion after intra-coronary stenting.
Dosage:
– The usual dose is 75 mg once daily.
– Adults (including the elderly): one 75 mg tablet per day, with or without food regularly and at the same time each day.
– Not intended for children or adolescents below the age of 18 years.
– If a dose of Myogrel is forgotten but remembered within 12 hours of the usual time,the tablet is taken straightaway and then the next tablet is taken at the normal time
Contraindications:
It should not be administered to patients with haematopoietic disorders such as neutropenia or thrombocytopenia or other haemorrhagic disorders associated with a prolonged bleeding time, or conditions wiith an increased risk of bleeding such as gastrointestinal ulcers, acute cerebral haemorrhage, or severe liver dysfunction. It is contraindicated also withbbreast feeding.
Special warnings:
– Recent serious injury.
– Blood disorder that may lead to internal bleeding.
– Surgery (including dental) within a period of 2 weeks.
– Kidney or liver disease.
– In patients who have experienced severe chest pain (unstable angina or heart attack),
Indication of Use:
Myogrel may be prescribed in combination with acetylsalicylic acid (75-325 mg per day).
A fixed daily dose of 75-100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid is usually recommended for long-term co-administration with Myogrel in those patients. In other circumstances, the use of acetylsalicylic acid for prolonged periods needs to be discussed with the doctor.
An occasional use of acetylsalicylic acid (no more than 100 mg in any 24 hours period) should not cause a problem.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
– If the patient is pregnant or if she is a breast-feeding mother, she should tell the doctor before taking Myogrel. If she becomes pregnant while taking Myogrel, she should consult her doctor straightaway.
Drivers and machines operators:
– Ability to drive or to operate complicated machinery should not be affected by Myogrel.
Side Effects:
-Hemorrhage, angioedema, urticaria, maculopapular rash and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).
-Hypotension, vasculitis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, bullous rash, eczema, erythema multiforme, erythematous rash, exfoliative dermatitis, lichen planus, lichenoid eruption, maculopapular rash, pruritus, pustular psoriasis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, urticaria, colitis (including ulcerative colitis or lymphocytic colitis), diarrhea, duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, pancreatitis, stomatitis, acute hepatic failure, hepatitis, confusion, hallucination, headache, arthralgia, arthritis, myalgia, increased serum creatinine, bronchospasm, eosinophilic pneumonitis, interstitial pneumonitis and fever.
Storage:
