Structure:

Each 1 ml of solution contains: Elemental iron – 50 mg (as polymaltose iron complex)

Properties:

• Hydroferrin oral drops is a unique preparation containing very large amounts of iron. It is an effective, well-tolerated and rapidly absorbed non-ionic chelating complex.
• Absorption of iron from Hydroferrin oral drops does not depend on food or liquid intake. – Hydroferrin oral drops have a pleasant, nonmetallic, caramel flavor.
• Hydroferrin oral drops, unlike other ionized iron preparations, have no effect on the absorption of copper and zinc.

-Lower incidence of side effects from the gastrointestinal tract compared to other iron preparations. -Lack of teeth staining effect. Excellent safety profile with no data on drug overdose.

Indications:

Hydroferrin oral drops are indicated for the prevention and treatment of all diseases of iron deficiency, including iron deficiency anemia.

Method of administration and dosage:

1- children 5-10kg: prevention: 1/ 4ml onc day; treatment: 1/2 ml once a day.

• – children 2-6 years old: prevention: 1 / 2ml once a day; treatment: 1/2 ml twice a day.
• – children 6-12 years old: prevention: 1 ml once a day; treatment: Iml twice a day.
• adults: prevention: 1 ml twice a day; treatment: 1 ml three times a day.

5-Premature babies (less than 1.5 kg): 3 mg elemental iron / kg body weight daily. This equates to approximately 2 drops (each drop contains 1.67 mg of elemental iron).

Side effects:

Oral iron supplements can irritate the gastrointestinal tract; nausea, constipation, or diarrhea. However, the incidence of these side effects has been reported to be less with iron polymaltosate preparations.

Feces may turn black while taking this medication.

Interaction of drugs:

There are no reports of interactions of iron polymaltose with food or medications.

Pregnancy and lactation period:

• Taking a chelated iron complex during pregnancy has no effect on the fetus.
• Reception of a chelated iron complex is possible during lactation.

• Box containing a bottle of 30 ml oral drops and paper instructions.
• This medicine should be stored in a dry, dark place at a temperature not exceeding 30 0 C. Use only under medical supervision. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
