Composition:

Each capsule contains:

Budesonide (DCI) 400 mcg. 

Other ingredients include lactose.

Properties:

Budesonide is a glucocorticoid steroid having a highly oxygenated pregna-1,4-diene structure. It is used mainly in the treatment of asthma and non-infectious rhinitis and for treatment and prevention of nasal polyposis. It has a role as an anti-inflammatory drug, a bronchodilator agent and a drug allergen.

  • Maintenance of clinical remission of mild    to moderate crohn’s disease

Dosage and administration:

  • Miflonide Breezhaler capsule medication is available in two dosages ( 200 mcg/dose and 400 mcg/dose). Your doctor has prescribed the optimal dose for you.
  • Miflonide Breezhaler medicine is best taken at the same time each day.
  • Miflonide Breezhaler capsules should only be used with the Breezhaler inhaler that came with the pack.
  • Do not use any other inhaler.
  • Do not swallow the capsules. The powder in the capsules is for inhalation.
  • For the treatment of Asthma:

In adults, the dose is 200 to 400 micrograms of budesonide given once or twice daily.

  • In the event of an exacerbation of asthma symptoms, when treatment with oral corticosteroids is changed to treatment with budesonide by inhalation, or when the dose of oral corticosteroids is reduced, the dose of budesonide may be increased to 1600 micrograms per day given in 2 to 4 inhalations.
  • Children over 6 years of age: The dose is 200 micrograms of budesonide once or twice daily. If necessary, your doctor may increase the dose of budesonide to 800 micrograms per day. Children should use Miflonide Breezhaler under adult supervision.
  • Please note that Miflonide Breezhaler is only used to prevent asthma attacks. To treat an asthma attack, you will need to use an inhaled emergency medicine that you normally use.
  • Dosage of Miflonide Breezhaler in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease:
  • Adults: The dose is 200 to 400 micrograms of budesonide twice daily.

If necessary, your doctor may increase the dose to 1600 micrograms per day.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to Miflonide Inhalation Capsule is a contraindication. In addition, Miflonide Inhalation Capsule should not be used if you have the following conditions:
  • Acute infections uncontrolled by antimicrobial chemotherapy
  • Allergic
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Lactation
  • Pregnancy

Warnings and precautions:

  • Before using Miflonide Inhalation Capsule, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. 
  • Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol
  • Avoid grapefruit juice
  • Consult you doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or had a miscarriage, ulcers, liver diseases, behavioural changes, migraine problems
  • Do not chew or crush capsule
  • Do not drive or operate heavy machinery
  • Exercise caution in case of fungal or bacterial infection
  • Hypercorticism and Adrenal Axis •Suppression
  • Increased risk of Infection
  • Inform doctor about pregnancy
  • Inform your doctor in case of cardiovascular, hepatic and renal impairment, peptic ulcer, diabetes, diabetic retinopathy, concurrent use of oral contraceptives, history of psychotic disorders.

Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
