Metrohaler

Composition:

Each powder capsule for inhalation contains:

Formoterol fumarate dihydrate 12 mcg

Auxiliary components:

lactose monohydrate.

Properties:

Beta-adrenomimetic. Acts primarily on β2-adrenergic receptors. It has a bronchodilator effect, relieves and prevents bronchospasm. Inhibits the release of histamine, leukotrienes and prostaglandin D2 from mast cells, basophils and sensitized cells of the bronchoalveolar tree.

Indications:

Prevention and treatment of violations of bronchial patency in patients with bronchial asthma as an adjunct to therapy with inhaled GCS; prevention of bronchospasm caused by exercise, cold air or inhalation of allergens as an adjunct to inhaled GCS therapy; prevention and treatment of bronchial obstruction disorders in patients with COPD.

Method of administration and dosage:

Applied by inhalation. The dosage regimen is set individually, depending on the indications, the severity of the disease, the patient’s age and the dosage form used.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to formoterol or other beta-adrenergic agonists; children’s age – depending on the dosage form; period of breastfeeding.

Precautionary measures:

Formoterol is not intended for the relief of acute attacks of bronchial asthma.

Patients with bronchial asthma who require treatment with long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonists should receive optimal supportive anti-inflammatory therapy (inhalation or oral corticosteroids), incl. and after the introduction of formoterol into the treatment regimen, even if they have a decrease in symptoms. If symptoms persist or an increase in doses of beta2-adrenergic agonists is required, this indicates an aggravation of the course of the underlying disease and the need to revise maintenance therapy.
