Structure:
Dextromethorphan 5 mg
Phenylephrine 2 mg
Chlorpheniramine 1 mg
Properties:
Dextromethorphan-inhibits the excitability of the cough center and suppresses cough, regardless of its origin. Does not have a narcotic, analgesic and hypnotic effect.
Phenylephrine – helps to restore air permeability of the nasopharynx, improves the patient’s well-being and reduces the risk of possible complications caused by stagnation of mucous secretions.
Chlorpheniramine has anti-edema and antihistamine effects.
Indications:
Codilar syrup is used to suppress irritating, unproductive coughs with or without nasal secretions
Mode of application:
- only orally
- Do not exceed the recommended dose
-cannot be taken by children under 6 years old
Children: 1 teaspoon 4 times a day
Adults: 2 teaspoons 3 times a day
Contraindications:
-cannot be taken by children under 6 years old
- hypersensitivity to drug components
-bronchial asthma
chronic bronchitis (smoker’s cough), or when the cough is accompanied by profuse sputum
Precautions:
- patients with bronchial asthma, angle-closure glaucoma
-use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart disease and thyroid disease
Pregnancy and lactation:
-use during pregnancy only if the benefit justifies the possible risk to the fetus
- contraindicated during lactation
Special instructions:
During treatment, care must be taken when driving vehicles (reduced reaction time and concentration of attention).
Side effects:
-constipation, shortness of breath in particularly sensitive patients, or when taking large doses.
- in case of an overdose, absent-mindedness, increased excitability, nervousness, irritability may occur
- rarely, there is an adverse effect on the gastrointestinal tract, dizziness and drowsiness
Storage:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30C in a dark place
