Composition:

Each tablet contains:

Triamcinolone 4 mg

Properties:

Pharmacological action – anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, membrane-stabilizing.

-Induces the formation of lipocortins, inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators by eosinophils, reduces the number of mast cells producing hyaluronic acid. 

-Reduces capillary permeability, stabilizes cellular, including lysosomal membranes and membranes of other organelles. 

-Promotes the release of cytokines (interleukins 1, 2, gamma interferon) from lymphocytes and macrophages. -Enhances gluconeogenesis, reduces glucose utilization by tissues and activates catabolic processes.

Indications for use:

Rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism (acute form), allergic diseases, bronchial asthma, angioedema, nephrotic syndrome, emphysema and pulmonary fibrosis (with simultaneous antibiotic therapy); chronic leukemia, acute lymph leukemia, collagenosis (systemic lupus erythematosus, etc.). ), acute bursitis, myositis, fibrositis and other acute connective tissue diseases, uveitis, malabsorption syndrome, dermatoses, psoriasis (acute manifestations), urticaria.

Dosage and administration:

Orally. Adult daily dose is 4-24 mg in several administrations. After achieving a satisfactory effect, the dose is gradually reduced by 2-4 mg every 2-3 days to reach the optimal maintenance dose, administered once a day or every other day.

Side effects:

Cushingoid syndrome (moon-shaped face, bull’s hump, etc. ), muscle weakness, bruising, purpura, skin striation, osteoporosis, spontaneous bone fractures, increased sweating, facial flushes, thromboembolism, necrotizing angiitis, acute pancreatitis, esophagitis, activation or exacerbation of peptic ulcer, hirsutism, acne, dizziness, headaches, increased intraocular pressure, severe psychiatric disorders, increased intracranial pressure, optic nipple edema, posterior subcapsular cataracts.

Contraindications:

Thrombophlebitis, tendency to psychosis, acute psychosis, acute glomerulonephritis, chronic nephritis, metastasizing carcinoma, osteoporosis, diverticulitis, recently performed intestinal anastomoses, gastric ulcer in history and in active form, tuberculosis (latent forms or previously transferred), local or systemic viral infections, systemic fungal diseases, active infections not amenable to antibiotic therapy.

Warnings and precautions:

  • Prescribe with caution to diabetic patients (increased insulin requirement), those with hypothyroidism or cirrhosis (increased action may occur), children (growth and developmental monitoring), and women (menstrual irregularity may occur). 
  • In prolonged treatment it is necessary to ensure adequate protein intake into the body. The balance of electrolytes in serum should be monitored. High doses are recommended to be reduced gradually, reducing the number of tablets taken over 1-3 weeks
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Not recommended (especially in the first trimester), except in cases justified by the severity of the disease. Infants born to mothers treated with corticosteroids may develop hypoadrenalism. Nursing mothers should discontinue breastfeeding.
