Itranox is an antifungal drug from the triazole group with a broad spectrum of action. It is effective against dermatophytes, yeast and mold fungi. It is used to treat various fungal infections of the skin, nails, mucous membranes and internal organs.

Composition:

• Itraconazole - 100 mg in one capsule

Pharmacological properties:

• Itraconazole inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol - the main component of the cell membrane of fungi
• Has a fungistatic or fungicidal effect depending on the concentration and sensitivity of the pathogen
• Well absorbed when taken orally, especially with food
Active against:
• Candida spp.
• Aspergillus spp.
• Dermatophytes (Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton)
• Cryptococcus neoformans, etc.

Indications for use:

• Vulvovaginal candidiasis
• Onychomycosis (nail fungus)
• Dermatomycosis of the skin and mucous membranes
• Systemic mycoses (cryptococcosis, histoplasmosis, blastomycosis, etc.)
• Candidiasis of the oral cavity and esophagus
• Prevention of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients

Method of administration and dosage:

Adults:
The usual doses are listed below, but your doctor may decide to adjust them according to your individual needs.
Shingles of the body and groin: 1 capsule daily for 2 weeks.
Shingles of the hands and feet: 1 capsule daily for 4 weeks.
Other skin infections: 2 capsules daily for 1 week.
Eye infections: 2 capsules daily for 3 weeks.
Vaginal infections: 2 capsules morning and evening for 1 day or 2 capsules daily for 3 days.
Oral infections: 1–2 capsules daily for 4 weeks.
Systemic infections: 1–2 capsules once or twice daily for 3 weeks to 8 months depending on the condition.

Nail infections:
Continuous nail therapy: 2 capsules once daily for 3 months.
Cyclic (pulse) nail therapy: 2 capsules twice daily for 1 week. Then stop taking ITRANOX for 3 weeks. Then repeat the cycle, once for fingernails and twice for toenail infections (with or without fingernail infections).
Follow the instructions provided when you prescribe Itranox, including the number of days to take it.
Don't worry if you don't see immediate improvement after treatment.
• For skin infections, the marks or spots (lesions) usually disappear within a few weeks after the course is finished. Although the medicine kills the fungus, the marks do not disappear until new skin grows.
• For nail infections, the marks on the nails may take 6 to 9 months to disappear as a new nail grows.

Children and the elderly:
Itranox is not recommended for use in children or the elderly.
