Composition

Each 3 g sachet contains:

Paracetamol 500 mg

Ascorbic acid 500 mg

Caffeine anhydrous 30 mg

Chlorphenamine maleate 4 mg

Excipients: sucrose, sorbitol, flavouring agents, anticaking agents.

Description 

Flu-C sachets are a fixed-dose combination powder for oral solution designed for the symptomatic treatment of common cold. Each sachet contains paracetamol for pain relief and fever reduction, ascorbic acid to support the immune system, caffeine for mental alertness, and chlorphenamine maleate to relieve allergy-related symptoms such as a runny nose and dry cough.

Properties

Flu‑C combines four actives in one sachet for rapid, multi‑symptom relief of the common cold:

-Paracetamol — central analgesic and antipyretic (inhibits COX‑1/2 in CNS)

-Ascorbic acid — antioxidant; supports immune function

-Caffeine — CNS stimulant; counteracts paracetamol‑induced drowsiness and enhances analgesia

-Chlorphenamine maleate — first‑generation antihistamine; relieves sneezing, rhinorrhoea, dry cough

Indications

Symptomatic relief in adults of:

Headache

Limb and muscle pain

Nasal congestion (“sniffles”)

Dry, irritating cough

Fever or elevated body temperature

Dosage & Administration

Adults (≥18 y): Dissolve 1 sachet in a glass of water, wait ~1 minute, then drink.

Frequency: 1 sachet every 6–8 hours, up to 3 times/day

Maximum: 4 sachets in 24 hours

Liver/renal impairment or Gilbert’s syndrome: Reduce dose or extend interval

Severe renal insufficiency: Contraindicated

Duration: Do not exceed 3 days of continuous use without medical advice

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any active or excipient

Severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m²)

Children and adolescents <18 years

Gilbert’s syndrome (risk of paracetamol accumulation)

Concurrent MAOI therapy

Precautions

Use with caution or consult a physician if the patient has:

Hepatic dysfunction or history of liver disease

Renal dysfunction

Gilbert’s syndrome

Oxalate urolithiasis (risk of oxalate stones from high-dose vitamin C)

Iron-storage disorders (thalassemia, hemochromatosis)

Chronic alcohol abuse

Pyloroduodenal or bladder‑neck obstruction

Narrow‑angle glaucoma

Gastric or duodenal ulcer

Hyperthyroidism

Cardiac arrhythmias (risk of tachycardia, extrasystoles)

Anxiety disorders (risk of exacerbation by caffeine)

General warning: Prolonged high‑dose or unsupervised use of analgesics can trigger medication‑overuse headache. Seek medical advice if symptoms worsen or persist, or if high fever or secondary infection develops.

Side Effects

-Blood & lymphatic (very rare): leukopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia, aplastic anemia

-Immune system (very rare): anaphylaxis, angioedema, serum‑sickness‑like reactions, hypersensitivity vasculitis; Stevens–Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis

-Metabolism & nutrition (very rare): increased appetite

-Psychiatric (very rare): psychotic reactions, restlessness, insomnia

-Nervous system (very rare): dyskinesias; possible sedation or drowsiness from chlorphenamine

-Eye (very rare): acute angle‑closure glaucoma, visual disturbances

-Cardiac (unknown): tachycardia, palpitations

-Respiratory (very rare): bronchospasm (analgesic‑induced asthma)

-Gastrointestinal

Common: dry mouth

Very rare: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain

-Hepatobiliary

Rare: elevated liver enzymes

Very rare: severe liver injury with prolonged overdose

-Skin & subcutaneous

Uncommon: rash, urticaria, pruritus

Very rare: severe bullous reactions

-Renal & urinary (very rare): urinary retention; chronic high‑dose use may damage kidneys

-Laboratory (unknown): interference with tests for glucose, uric acid, creatinine, occult blood, etc.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy: Contraindicated. Chlorphenamine has been linked to fetal CNS/cranial anomalies; vitamin C at very high doses may harm.

Breast‑feeding: Contraindicated. Chlorphenamine excretion into milk unknown; may cause sedation in infant.

Storage

Store in the original carton at a temperature ≤ 30 °C, in a dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
