Amokomb Cream 15 g
Composition:
Each gram of cream contains:
Gramicidin – 0.25 mg
Neomycin sulfate – 2.5 mg
Nystatin – 100,000 IU
Triamcinolone acetonide – 1 mg.
Excipients:
Aluminum hydroxide, BZI 108, cetyl alcohol, digidag resin, glyceryl monostearate, lavender oil, liquid paraffin, propylene glycol, purified water, simethicone, sodium metabisulfite, sodium hydroxide, sorbitol, titanium dioxide, Tween 40, Tween 60.
Pharmacological Properties:
Amokomb is a combination topical medication with antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Triamcinolone acetonide is a glucocorticosteroid (GCS) with anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects.
Gramicidin is a topical antibiotic effective against Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., and certain anaerobic bacteria.
Neomycin sulfate is a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic active against Staphylococcus spp., Enterococcus spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., and Escherichia coli.
Nystatin is a polyene antifungal antibiotic that binds to sterols in fungal cell membranes, disrupting permeability and causing leakage of cellular contents. It is active against Candida albicans.
Indications for Use:
Superficial dermatoses responsive to corticosteroid therapy, including those secondarily infected with bacteria or fungi:
Atopic dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis
Lichen
Psoriasis
Allergic contact dermatitis
The cream may be applied to weeping skin lesions and areas with diaper rash.
Method of Administration and Dosage:
Apply the cream to affected skin areas 2–3 times daily. Occlusive dressings may be used if necessary.
The duration of treatment should not exceed 14 days.
Contraindications:
Viral or parasitic skin infections
Burns, ulcers, open wounds
Perioral dermatitis, ichthyosis, acne, rosacea, skin atrophy, vascular fragility
Pregnancy
Hypersensitivity to any of the components.
Precautions:
Avoid application to facial skin, particularly around the eyes.
Prolonged use on damaged skin may increase the risk of ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity due to neomycin.
Use caution in patients predisposed to cranial nerve VIII damage (history of aminoglycoside use).
Discontinue use immediately and reassess treatment in case of superinfection (including fungal).
Use in Pediatrics:
In children, use on large skin surfaces or under occlusive dressings may suppress adrenal function.
Side Effects:
Increased risk with prolonged use on large skin areas, especially under occlusive dressings:
Allergic reactions
Burning, itching, irritation
Dryness of the skin, folliculitis, hypertrichosis
Hypopigmentation, skin maceration
Perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis
Skin atrophy.
Storage Conditions:
Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Protect from light.
Packaging:
A cardboard box contains a 15 g tube.
