Skinoprocin Topical Ointment 15 gm

Composition:

Each 1 g contains:

Mupirocin – 20 mg.
Fluticasone propionate (micronized) – 0.050 mg

Description:

Skinoprocin is a white to yellowish-white homogeneous topical ointment combining a topical antibiotic (mupirocin) and a potent corticosteroid (fluticasone propionate). It is used for treating steroid-responsive inflammatory skin disorders associated with or at risk of bacterial infection.

Indications for Use:

Treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory dermatoses where secondary bacterial infection is present or likely, including:

- Atopic dermatitis
- Nummular dermatitis
- Prurigo nodularis
- Psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis)
- Lichen simplex chronicus
- Lichen planus
- Seborrhoeic dermatitis
- Contact dermatitis (allergic or irritant)
- Discoid lupus erythematosus
- Insect bite reactions
- Miliaria (prickly heat).

Dosage and Method of Administration:

- Adults, elderly, children ≥1 year: Apply a thin layer to affected skin twice daily for up to 10 days.
- Do not mix with other products.
- Discontinue if no improvement in 10 days.
- Use minimal amount for shortest effective duration, especially in elderly or patients with renal/hepatic impairment.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any component.
Rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis, pruritus without inflammation, primary cutaneous infections (viral, fungal, bacterial), dermatoses in children <1 year, skin ulceration, atrophy, ichthyosis, fragile vessels.

Precautions:

- Discontinue if irritation or sensitisation occurs.
- Avoid prolonged use to prevent resistance or systemic side effects.
- Not suitable for ophthalmic, intranasal, or cannula use.
- Use with caution in renal impairment due to PEG absorption.
- Visual disturbances should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist.

Side Effects:

Fluticasone-related:
Common: Pruritus
Uncommon: Burning
Very rare: Skin thinning, striae, rosacea, acne, impaired healing, hypercortisolism, hypersensitivity
Not known: Blurred vision, vascular purpura
Mupirocin-related:
Common: Burning
Uncommon: Itching, erythema, stinging
Very rare: Anaphylaxis, urticaria, angioedema

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
Use only if potential benefit justifies the risk. Wash nipples before breastfeeding if applied. Data on excretion in milk is limited.

Storage Conditions:
Store below 25°C. Do not freeze.
