Composition

Each gram contains:

Mometasone furoate — 1 mg

Salicylic acid — 50 mg

Elicasal is a topical combination medication containing the potent corticosteroid mometasone furoate and the keratolytic agent salicylic acid. Mometasone provides anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects, effectively reducing inflammation and itching. Salicylic acid helps remove hyperkeratotic scales and enhances steroid penetration. This combination is particularly effective in the initial treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, offering rapid symptomatic relief and skin normalization. Elicasal is intended for short-term use only.

Indications for Use

Initial treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.

Dosage and Method of Administration

Apply a thin layer to affected skin once or twice daily.

Maximum daily dose: 15 g, applied to no more than 30% of body surface.

Treatment duration should not exceed 3 weeks. Taper gradually.

For topical use only.

Not recommended in children under 12 years.

Contraindications

-Hypersensitivity to any ingredient

-Bacterial, viral, fungal, or parasitic skin infections (without appropriate antimicrobial therapy)

-Postvaccination reactions, perioral dermatitis, rosacea, acne, skin atrophy

-Pregnancy (third trimester)

Precautions

Not for use on face, groin, genitals, or intertriginous areas

Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, wounds, or ulcers

Do not use under occlusive dressings

Not suitable for pustular or guttate psoriasis

Discontinue if irritation or excessive dryness occurs

Systemic side effects (e.g., adrenal suppression, visual disturbances) may occur

Wash off before UV therapy due to salicylic acid’s photoprotective properties

Refer to ophthalmologist if visual symptoms occur

Side Effects

Common: burning, pruritus, local skin atrophy

Uncommon: striae, rosacea-like dermatitis, folliculitis, ecchymosis

Rare: hypertrichosis, hypopigmentation

Not known: irritation, dryness, contact dermatitis, acneiform dermatitis, exfoliation, telangiectasia, miliaria

Eye disorders: blurred vision

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Avoid during 1st and 2nd trimester unless clearly necessary

Contraindicated in the 3rd trimester

Use with caution during breastfeeding; avoid applying to the breast

Storage Conditions

Store below 30°C.

After opening: use within 3 months.
