Elecortin Plus Topical Cream 15 g

Composition:

Active ingredients (per 1 g of cream):
Mometasone furoate – 1 mg
Gentamicin (as gentamicin sulphate 1.7 mg) – equivalent to 1 mg gentamicin
Miconazole nitrate – 20 mg

Description:

Elecortin Plus is a combination topical cream containing a medium-potency synthetic corticosteroid (mometasone), a broad-spectrum antibiotic (gentamicin), and a broad-spectrum antifungal (miconazole). It provides anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antibacterial, and antifungal effects.

Indications for Use:

Treatment of mixed fungal and bacterial infections of the skin, including:
-Atopic, contact, seborrheic, nummular, infantile eczema and neurodermatitis
-Otitis externa, anogenital pruritus
-Psoriasis
-Infected superficial burns, bites, abrasions, post-surgical wounds
-Mycotic infections of skin and nails, and superinfections caused by Gram-positive bacteria.

Dosage and Method of Administration:

Route of administration: Topical.
Dosage:
Adults and children: Apply a thin layer to affected areas once or twice daily.
Occlusive dressings may be used if desired.
Avoid excessive application.
Limit use on the face or in children to 5 days.
Apply gently, preferably after bathing.

Contraindications:

-Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
-Rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis
-Post-vaccine skin reactions, skin atrophy
-Viral, parasitic, varicella, TB or syphilitic infections
-Do not apply to wounds, ulcers, or mucous membranes.

Precautions:

-Discontinue if irritation or hypersensitivity occurs.
-Systemic absorption of corticosteroids may occur, especially with prolonged use or use under occlusion.
-Avoid long-term use, especially in children or on the face.
-May cause visual disturbances; refer to ophthalmologist if symptoms occur.
-Contains sodium benzoate, which may irritate skin, eyes, and mucosa.
-May suppress HPA axis; monitor patients under long-term treatment.
-May mask infections or delay healing.
-Rebound dermatitis may occur upon sudden discontinuation.

Side Effects:

-Skin burning and inflammation
-Hypersensitivity reactions (angioedema, anaphylaxis)
-Skin atrophy, striae, telangiectasia, hypopigmentation, hypertrichosis
-Secondary infections
-Visual disturbances.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician. Topical corticosteroids may cause fetal abnormalities in animal studies.
Lactation: Unknown whether systemically absorbed amounts are excreted in breast milk. Discontinue breastfeeding if long-term or high-dose treatment is necessary.

Store below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze.
