Compound:

Each gram of ointment contains:

Clobetasol propionate 0.05%

Auxiliary components:

propylene glycol, sorbitan sesquioleate, soft white paraffin.

Properties:

Clobetasol is a topical corticosteroid that acts as an anti-inflammatory agent through several mechanisms of inhibition of the late phase of allergic reactions, including a decrease in mast cell density, a decrease in chemotaxis and eosinophil activation, a decrease in cytokine production by lymphocytes, monocytes, mast cells and eosinophils, and suppression of arachidonic acid metabolism. .

Pharmacodynamic effects

GCS for external use have anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive properties.

Indications:

Clobetasol is a highly active corticosteroid for external use, which is indicated for the short-term treatment of symptoms of inflammation and pruritus in dermatosis sensitive to corticosteroid therapy, and with resistance to less active corticosteroids (for adults, the elderly and children over 1 year old):

– psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis);

– dermatosis, difficult to treat;

– lichen planus;

– discoid lupus erythematosus;

– other skin diseases resistant to therapy with less active corticosteroids.

Dosage and administration:

The drug is used externally.

The ointment is recommended for skin lesions accompanied by dryness, hyperkeratosis and thickening of the skin.

Adults, elderly patients and children over 1 year of age

The drug should be applied in a thin layer and gently rubbed in, using in minimal amounts sufficient to cover the entire affected area, 1 time / day or 2 times / day until the condition improves, then you should reduce the frequency of application or replace the drug with a less strong one. After each use, the product must be left for sufficient time to absorb before applying the emollient.

Treatment should not last more than 4 weeks. If continued treatment is necessary, a less potent drug should be used.

Treatment with Dermovate should be gradually withdrawn after disease control is achieved, and treatment with an emollient should be continued as maintenance therapy.

Contraindications:

– untreated skin infections;

– rosacea (rosacea);

-acne;

– perioral dermatitis;

– itching in the absence of inflammation;

– perianal and genital itching;

– children’s age up to 1 year;

– period of breastfeeding;

– hypersensitivity to clobetasol or any other component that is part of the drug.

With caution: increased local sensitivity to corticosteroids or to any excipient that is part of the drug; psoriasis; children’s age from 1 year to 18 years.

Precautionary measures:

In some individuals, as a result of increased systemic absorption of GCS for external use, manifestations of hypercorticism (Itsenko-Cushing’s syndrome) and reversible inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, leading to the development of glucocorticoid insufficiency, may occur. If any of the above disorders is observed, the drug should be discontinued, gradually reducing the frequency of its application, or replaced with a less strong GCS. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment may lead to the development of glucocorticoid insufficiency.

Side effects:

Infectious and parasitic diseases: very rarely – opportunistic infections.

From the immune system: very rarely – hypersensitivity, generalized rash.

From the endocrine system: very rarely – depression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, Itsenko-Cushing’s syndrome

From the side of the skin and subcutaneous fat: often – itching, burning sensation and / or soreness.
