Composition:
Each hard gelatin capsule contains:
Orlistat 120 mg.
Excipients:
Avicel PH 101, sodium starch glycolate, polyplasdone, talc, sodium lauryl sulphate, polyvinylpyrrolidone K30, purified water.
Description:
Regimax is an anti-obesity medicine containing orlistat, a gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor that reduces dietary fat absorption.
It is used together with a mildly hypocaloric diet.
Indications for Use:
Indicated for:
Treatment of obese patients with BMI ≥ 30 kg/m².
Overweight patients with BMI ≥ 28 kg/m² with associated risk factors.
Treatment should be discontinued after 12 weeks if weight loss is less than 5%.
Dosage and Method of Administration:
Adults:
One capsule (120 mg) three times daily.
Take immediately before, during, or up to 1 hour after meals.
Skip dose if meal is missed or contains no fat.
Diet recommendations:
Mildly hypocaloric diet.
About 30% calories from fat.
Rich in fruits and vegetables.
Nutrients distributed across three meals.
Higher doses do not increase effectiveness.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to components.
Chronic malabsorption syndrome.
Cholestasis.
Breastfeeding.
Precautions:
Use cautiously in:
Type 2 diabetes.
Patients on anticoagulants.
Kidney disease.
Hypothyroidism.
Patients taking antiepileptics or antiretrovirals.
Patients taking ciclosporin.
May cause:
Reduced absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
Gastrointestinal reactions with high-fat diet.
Rare severe liver injury.
Side Effects:
Very common:
Headache.
Oily stool.
Faecal urgency.
Flatulence.
Oily rectal discharge.
Common:
Abdominal pain.
Diarrhoea.
Urinary tract infection.
Fatigue.
Menstrual irregularities.
Anxiety.
Rare/serious:
Pancreatitis.
Hepatitis.
Gallstones.
Hypersensitivity reactions.
Renal failure.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
Use during pregnancy with caution.
Contraindicated during breastfeeding.
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C in a dry place.
Keep out of reach of children.
