Myofen is a combination drug that has both muscle relaxant and anti-inflammatory effects. It is used to relieve pain caused by muscle spasms, injuries, and inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
Composition:
• Chlorzoxazone 250 mg – a centrally acting muscle relaxant that relieves muscle tension
• Ibuprofen 200 mg – an NSAID that reduces pain, inflammation, and fever.
Pharmacological properties:
• Chlorzoxazone suppresses reflex transmission in the spinal cord, reducing skeletal muscle tone
• Ibuprofen inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, reducing pain, swelling, and inflammation
• The combined action of the components increases effectiveness in musculoskeletal pain.
Indications for use:
• Muscle spasms and pain
• Pain in the lower back, neck, and shoulders
• Postoperative or post-traumatic muscle spasm
• Soft tissue injuries
• Spinal disorders (e.g., osteochondrosis, radiculitis).
Dosage and administration:
• Adults and children over 12 years:
— 1 capsule 3 times a day after meals.
• Duration of treatment is determined by a doctor, usually not exceeding 7–10 days.
