Product Description:
Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate Injection is a corticosteroid solution for parenteral administration.
The product is supplied in ampoules for slow intravenous injection, intravenous infusion, intramuscular injection, subcutaneous injection, intra-articular, or local administration.
Indications for Use:
Dexamethasone is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and allergic conditions, autoimmune diseases, severe asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatological disorders, and as supportive therapy in oncology.
It is also used to manage cerebral edema and certain endocrine disorders.
Method of Administration and Dosage:
The solution is administered by slow I.V. injection, I.V. infusion, I.M. injection, subcutaneous injection, intra-articular, or local injection.
Dosage depends on the condition being treated, severity, and patient response, and must be prescribed by a physician.
Contraindications:
Dexamethasone must not be used in patients with systemic fungal infections, known hypersensitivity to corticosteroids, or in those receiving live vaccines.
Precautions:
Caution is required in patients with diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer, osteoporosis, or psychiatric disorders.
Long-term use requires monitoring for adrenal suppression.
Adverse Reactions:
Possible side effects include fluid retention, hypertension, hyperglycemia, increased susceptibility to infections, mood changes, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
Prolonged use may cause Cushing’s syndrome and adrenal insufficiency.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
Dexamethasone should only be used during pregnancy or lactation if clearly necessary and prescribed by a physician.
