Composition:

Each tablet contains:

Alfacalcidol - 0.25 mcg.

Description:

A vitamin D preparation in the form of alfacalcidol used to correct calcium-phosphorus metabolism disorders. Effective in osteoporosis, hypoparathyroidism, osteomalacia, and other conditions associated with a deficiency of the active form of vitamin D.

Pharmacological properties:

• Pharmacological group: Vitamin D analogues (prodrug)

• Mechanism of action:
Alfacalcidol is converted in the body to calcitriol—the active form of vitamin D, which regulates:

- Absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the intestines
- Bone mineralization
- Parathyroid gland function
- Has anti-osteoporotic and calcium-regulating effects.

Indications for use:

• Chronic renal failure (CRF)
• Hypoparathyroidism
• Rickets and osteomalacia
• Osteoporosis (including postmenopausal and glucocorticoid-induced)
• Hypophosphatemic conditions.

Dosage and administration:

Typical dose for adults:

0.25 mcg once daily

If necessary — increase to 0.5–1.0 mcg/day (under medical supervision)

• Take orally, regardless of food intake

• Dose adjustment is individual, depending on calcium and phosphorus levels

• Important: regular monitoring of serum calcium (especially in patients with CRF).
