Normifrin 0.05% Nasal spray 20 ml
Composition:
Each 1 ml drops contains:
Oxymetazoline 0.05% or 0.25 mg
Inactive Ingredients:
Benzalkonium chloride 50% sodium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate,
disodium edetate potassium dihydrogen phosphate and purified water.
Properties:
This nasal spray contains Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride which is a decongestant. It relieves a stuffy, blocked nose by shrinking the blood vessels helping to open the nasal passages. It acts within a few minutes and lasts for up to 12 hours.
Indications:
-Oxymetazoline is a nasal decongestant that clears blocked nostrils.
-It is used for the relief of blocked nose caused by colds, flus, sinusitis, hayfever or other allergic sinusitis
Directions for use:
- Adults and children over 12 years; 1-2 sprays in each nostril, every 12 hours.
- Not more than a total of 8 sprays for adults should be given in 24 hours.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
- Normifrin should not be used for longer than 7 days unless prescribed by your doctor. An interval of several days should elapse before re-administration of the product.
- Shake well before use. Before first use, prime the unit by depressing the pump several times until the first full spray is achieved.
- While holding upright the spray nozzle should be inserted into each nostril in turn and squeezed firmly one or two times whilst breathing in.
- After use, wipe nozzle clean. Use of this product by more than one person may spread infection.
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Side Effects:
- Stop using oxymetazoline and seek medical help immediately if you have any of the following which may be signs of an allergic reaction:
-difficulty breathing or swallowing;
-swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat;
-severe itching of the skin, with a red rash or raised bumps.
Dryness or irritation of the nasal mucosa, nausea, headache, local burning sensation.
Allergic reactions (skin rash, itching), blurred vision, irregular or fast heartbeat.
Contraindications:
-hypersensitivity to oxymetazoline or any other ingredients of Normifrin
-undergone recent trans-nasal surgery;
-narrow angle glaucoma;
Warnings and precautions:
- Tell your doctor if you have:
-high blood pressure
-heart disease
-overactive thyroid
-diabetes
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You should only use oxymetazoline during pregnancy or breast-feeding if recommended by your doctor.
- You should not use oxymetazoline if you are taking certain medicines used for treatment of depression (monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants).
- Keep out of reach of children.
