Composition:

Semaglutide 1.7 mg/0.5 mL solution for subcutaneous injection.
Excipients: disodium phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride, water for injections.

Product Description:

Wegovy is a GLP-1 receptor agonist indicated for weight management and reduction of cardiovascular risk.
Supplied as a pre-filled FlexTouch pen (3 mL, 4 doses) with disposable needles.

Indications for Use:

Chronic weight management in adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or overweight (BMI ≥27) with at least one weight-related comorbidity.
Weight management in adolescents ≥12 years with obesity.
Reduction of major adverse cardiovascular events (CV death, non-fatal MI, non-fatal stroke) in adults with established CV disease and obesity/overweight.

Method of Administration and Dosage:

Administered once weekly by subcutaneous injection (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm).
Dose escalation schedule: start at 0.25 mg weekly, increase every 4 weeks until maintenance dose of 1.7 mg.
Each pen delivers 4 doses.

Contraindications:

Personal/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).
Patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
Hypersensitivity to semaglutide or excipients.

Precautions:

Risk of thyroid C-cell tumors (boxed warning).
Monitor for pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, acute kidney injury, and severe GI adverse reactions.
Use with caution in patients with diabetic retinopathy.

Adverse Reactions / Side Effects:

Very common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain.
Common: headache, fatigue, dyspepsia, dizziness.
Serious: pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, acute kidney injury.

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Discontinue at least 2 months before planned pregnancy due to long half-life.

Storage Conditions:

Store refrigerated at 2°C–8°C.
Do not freeze.
After first use, store below 30°C for up to 28 days.
Keep out of reach of children.
