Ingredients:

Each tablet contains: 25 mg contain paroxetine hydrochloride.

Auxiliary components:

calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.

Description:

Paroxetine is an antidepressant drug that works in the brain.

Properties:

-Antidepressant, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It has a bicyclic structure, different from the structure of other known antidepressants.

-It has an antidepressant and anxiolytic effect with a fairly pronounced stimulating (activating) effect.

-The antidepressant (thymoanaleptic) effect is associated with the ability of paroxetine to selectively block the reuptake of serotonin by the presynaptic membrane, which causes an increase in the free content of this neurotransmitter in the synaptic cleft and an increase in its activity in the central nervous system.

-The effect on m-cholinergic receptors, α- and β-adrenergic receptors is insignificant, which determines the extremely weak severity of the corresponding side effects.

Indications:

Endogenous, neurotic and reactive depressions.

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)

Social anxiety disorder (social phobia)

Panic disorder.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Premenstrual disorder (PMDD)

How to use:

Follow all instructions given to you by your pharmacist or doctor carefully, it may differ from those in the leaflet.

It should be taken as a single daily dose, usually in the morning, with or without food.

Patients should be told that SEROXAT CR tablets should not be chewed or crushed and should be swallowed whole.

Recommended dosage for adults:

Severe depressive disorder:

The recommended initial dose is 25 mg / day.

Some patients who do not respond to a 25 mg dose may benefit from a dose increase of 12.5 mg/day, up to a maximum of 62.5 mg/day depending on the patient’s response.

Dosage changes should occur at intervals of at least one week.

As with all antidepressant medications, the dose should be reviewed and adjusted if necessary within 2 to 3 weeks of starting treatment and thereafter as clinically appropriate.

Patients with depression should be treated long enough to make sure they are symptom-free.

This period may be several months.

Contraindications:

Simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors and a period of up to 14 days after their withdrawal, increased sensitivity to paroxetine.

Precautionary measures:

-Stopping the use of paroxetine should be carried out by gradually reducing the dose, in order to avoid the withdrawal syndrome, which is manifested by dizziness, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, confusion, increased sweating.

-During the period of treatment with paroxetine, alcohol is contraindicated. Use with caution 14 days after the abolition of MAO inhibitors, gradually increasing the dose. MAO inhibitors should not be prescribed within 2 weeks after the complete withdrawal of paroxetine.

-When used simultaneously with drugs that inhibit the metabolism of liver enzymes, paroxetine should be used at the lowest recommended doses.

-Use paroxetine with caution with lithium preparations (it is recommended to control the concentration of lithium in the blood plasma), oral anticoagulants.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms:

-Use with caution in patients whose activities are associated with the need for a high concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Side effects:

-From the side of the central nervous system: rarely (when used in doses of more than 20 mg / day) – drowsiness, tremor, asthenia, insomnia.

-From the digestive system: rarely (when used in doses of more than 20 mg / day) – nausea, dry mouth; in some cases – constipation.

-Others: rarely (when used in doses of more than 20 mg / day) – increased sweating, ejaculation disorders.

Storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees. 

Store in a dry place.
