Treatment of major depressive episodes. Prevention of relapse of major depressive episodes. Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in adults and children aged 6-17 years. Social anxiety disorder. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Mode of application:
Inside, the tablet should be taken once a day, in the morning or in the evening, regardless of the meal. The dosage during long-term therapy should be maintained at the lowest effective level with subsequent adjustment depending on the therapeutic response.
Initial treatment. Depression and OCD: Should start at 50 mg / day. Panic Disorder, PTSD, and Social Anxiety: Starting dose of 25 mg / day. After a week, the dose should be increased to 50 mg once a day. This dose reduces the incidence of early symptoms associated with the side effects associated with panic disorder.
Continuation of therapy. Depression, OCD, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, and PTSD. Patients not responding to the 50 mg dose may increase the dose. Dose changes should be made in 50 mg increments at intervals of at least one week, up to a maximum of 200 mg / day.
The therapeutic effect can be observed within 7 days. Patients with depression should be treated for a sufficient period of time, at least 6 months, to make sure they are asymptomatic. Continuation of treatment for panic disorder and OCD should be assessed regularly, as relapse prevention is not indicated for these disorders.
Elderly people should be dosed carefully. In patients with liver disease, a lower or less frequent dose is used.
Children and adolescents with obsessivecompulsive disorder. From 13-17 years old: the initial dose is 50 mg once a day. From 6-12 years old: initial dose – 25 mg once a day. The dosage can be increased to 50 mg once a day every other week. Patients not responding to the 50 mg dose may increase the dose. Dose changes should be made in 50 mg increments at intervals of several weeks, up to a maximum of 200 mg / day.
When treatment with sertraline is discontinued, the dose should be gradually reduced over a period of 1 to 2 weeks to reduce the risk of adverse reactions. If, after reducing the dose or after stopping treatment, intolerable symptoms occur, you should consult a doctor.
