Properties:

Fish oil is an excellent source of nutrients, and it may have some important therapeutic properties.

Omega-3 fatty acids are incorporated into cellular membranes of all tissues. The enrichment of membranes with Omega-3 fatty acids can modulate cellular signaling events, membrane protein function and gene expression.

Omega-3 fatty acids can significantly reduce blood triglyceride levels. There also appears to be a slight improvement in high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or “good”) cholesterol.

Fish oil supplements might help reduce pain, improve morning stiffness and relieve joint tenderness in people with rheumatoid arthritis.

Consuming Omega-3 fatty acids as a supplement, may help reduce your risk of developing macular degeneration and glaucoma. Research also shows Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce your risk of developing dry eyes, and may also help treat bothersome symptoms as well.

Finally, Omega-3 fatty acids can also help soften rough, dry skin and have a soothing effect on irritation and dermatitis. It also helps improve your hair growth, its shine and volume.

After starting to take oral fish oil supplements, it can take about three months to see results.
