Lignocaine Spray is a topical anesthetic solution containing 10% lidocaine. It provides surface anaesthesia for short procedures by numbing mucous membranes in the mouth, throat, and other applicable areas. Indications for Use
Anaesthesia prior to minor non-invasive procedures in the nasal cavity, pharynx, and epipharynx (e.g., rhinoscopy, laryngoscopy)
Supplementary pain relief during obstetric procedures not requiring aseptic conditions
Surface anaesthesia for catheter/instrument insertion into the respiratory and digestive tracts (e.g., intubation, bronchoscopy, gastroscopy)
Minor dental procedures requiring local anaesthesia
Dosage and Method of Administration
Each spray delivers 10 mg of lidocaine base
Maximum adult dose: 20 sprays (200 mg)
Dental: 1–5 sprays
Obstetrics and catheter insertions: up to 20 sprays
Avoid use on damaged mucosa or ETT cuffs
Children and elderly: adjust dose based on age and condition
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to lidocaine or amide-type local anesthetics
Hypersensitivity to excipients listed in section 6.1
Precautions
Risk of toxicity with high doses or frequent use
Increased absorption with mucosal injury or bronchial application
Risk of aspiration due to suppressed swallowing reflex
Use cautiously in patients with cardiovascular disease, epilepsy, hepatic/renal impairment, bradycardia, shock, or elderly/frail patients
Not for use on plastic ETT cuffs
Avoid contact with eyes
Not recommended for infants or use for teething pain
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Can be used if no safer alternative is available; no adverse findings in animal studies
Breastfeeding: Lidocaine is excreted in small amounts in breast milk; no risk expected at therapeutic doses
Side Effects
Local: Irritation, sore throat, hoarseness, loss of voice
Allergic: Rare anaphylactic reactions
CNS: Nervousness, dizziness, convulsions, drowsiness, respiratory arrest
Cardiovascular: Hypotension, myocardial depression, bradycardia, cardiac arrest
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C. Protect from direct sunlight.
