Ingredients:

Each film-coated tablet contains 2.5 mg letrozole.

Description:

This medication is used to treat certain types of breast cancer (such as hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer) in women after menopause. Letrozole is also used to help prevent the cancer from returning. Some breast cancers are made to grow faster by a natural hormone called estrogen. Letrozole decreases the amount of estrogen the body makes and helps to slow or reverse the growth of these breast cancers.

Indications:

-Adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor positive invasive early breast cancer.

-Extended adjuvant treatment of hormone-dependent early invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have received prior standard adjuvant tamoxifen therapy for 5 years.

-First-line treatment in postmenopausal women with hormone-dependent advanced breast cancer.

-Advanced breast cancer after relapse or disease progression, in women with natural or artificially induced postmenopausal endocrine status, who have previously been treated with antioestrogens.

-Neoadjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor positive, HER-2 negative breast cancer where chemotherapy is not suitable and immediate surgery not indicated.

Dosage:

Adult and elderly patients:

The recommended dose of Letrozole tablet is 2.5 mg once daily.

In patients with advanced or metastatic breast cancer, treatment with letrozole tablets should continue until tumour progression is evident.

Letrozole tablets should be taken orally and can be taken with or without food.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients

Premenopausal endocrine status

Premenopausal, pregnant or lactating women

Letrozole tablets is not recommended for use in children and adolescents. 

Side effects:

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Common side effects of letrozole may include:

hot flashes, warmth or redness in your face or chest;

headache, dizziness, weakness;

bone pain, muscle or joint pain;

swelling, weight gain;

increased sweating;

increased cholesterol in your blood.
