Paliperidone (Paliperidone) - 6 mg
Pharmacological properties
Paliperidone is an active metabolite of risperidone.
It has the following pharmacological effects:
1. Antipsychotic action
• Dopamine (D₂) and serotonin (5-HT₂A) receptor antagonist
• Reduces delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking
2. Sedative and anxiolytic action
• Reduces agitation, anxiety, aggression
• Stabilizes mood in schizoaffective disorders
3. Lower risk of extrapyramidal disorders
• Due to moderate dopamine blockade and influence on the serotonin system
Indications for use
• Schizophrenia in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age
• Schizoaffective disorder (as monotherapy or in combination with normotimics/antidepressants)
Method of administration and dosage
• Usually 6 mg 1 time per day, in the morning
• The tablet should be swallowed whole, without chewing and without breaking
• Can be taken regardless of food intake
• Dosage may be adjusted by the doctor depending on the patient's response
• Maximum daily dose is 12 mg
