Shatoo 50/200 mg 7 tablets

Composition 
Each controlled release film coated tablet contains 200 mg of levodopa and carbidopa monohydrate equivalent to 50 mg of carbidopa.

This formulation is designed to release the active ingredients over a 4-6 hour period. With ‘shatoo CR’ there is less variation in Plasma levodopa levels than with conventional “shatoo “.

Indication

Idiopathic Parkinson’s disease, in particular to reduce the off-period in patients who previously have been treated with levodopa / decarboxylase inhibitors, or with levodopa alone and who have experienced motor fluctuations. The experience is limited with “shatoo CR” in patients who have not been treated with levodopa before. 

Contraindications

“Shatoo CR” should not be given when administration of a sympathomimetic amine is contraindicated. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (except low doses of selective MAO-B inhibitors) and “shatoo CR” should not be given concomitantly. These inhibitors must be discontinued at least two weeks prior to initiating therapy with “shatoo CR” 
“Shatoo CR” is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of this medication, and in patient with narrow-angle glaucoma. 
Because levodopa may activate a malignant melanoma, “shatoo CR” should not be used in patients with suspicious undiagnosed skin lesions or a history of melanoma. 

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when the following drugs are administered concomitantly with “Shatoo CR”. 

During pregnancy and nursing “shatoo CR” should not be given.

How to use

The appropriate dosage and duration of treatment will be determined by the physician. The patients should be monitored closely during the adjustment period, particularly with regard to appearance or worsening of nausea or abnormal involuntary movements. In order to maintain the controlled release properties of the product tablets should not be broken, chewed or crushed. Take the dose as prescribed by your physician 
The usual daily dosage is one to two tablets two to four times a day. 

Storage

Store in temperature not to exceed 30C in a dry place, away from light.
