Composition:

Each film-coated tablet contains:
Rosuvastatin calcium equivalent to 20 mg rosuvastatin.
Excipients:
Microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, and coating agents (standard for film-coated tablets).

Product Description:

Rosuvastatin is a lipid-lowering agent from the statin class. It works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the key enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, reducing LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol.
Potent LDL cholesterol reduction (up to 55% at higher doses).
Raises HDL cholesterol by 8-12%.
Slows progression of atherosclerosis.
Reduces cardiovascular risk in high-risk patients.

Indications for Use:

Primary hypercholesterolemia (including familial heterozygous hypercholesterolemia).
Mixed dyslipidemia (high LDL + triglycerides).
Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (with other lipid-lowering treatments).
Primary prevention of cardiovascular events in patients at risk.

Method of Administration and Dosage:

Adults: Initial dose 10-20 mg once daily; may titrate up to 40 mg/day.
Children (8-17 years, HeFH): 5–20 mg once daily.
Children (7-17 years, HoFH): 20 mg once daily.
Dose adjustments required for renal impairment and Asian patients (start at 5 mg).

Contraindications:

Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of liver transaminases.
Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 ml/min).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or excipients.

Precautions:

Monitor liver function before and during therapy.
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, hypothyroidism, or history of myopathy.
Avoid excessive alcohol intake.
Risk of rhabdomyolysis increases with concomitant use of fibrates or cyclosporine.

Adverse Reactions:

Common: headache, myalgia, abdominal pain, nausea.
Less common: liver enzyme elevations, proteinuria.
Rare: rhabdomyolysis, severe muscle pain, hypersensitivity reactions.

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Contraindicated; statins may cause fetal harm.

Storage Conditions:

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and light.
