Composition:
Each film-coated tablet contains:
Etoricoxib - 120 mg.
Excipients:
Microcrystalline cellulose (Avicel PH 101), calcium phosphate dibasic anhydrous, croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropyl cellulose (Klucel Exf), sodium lauryl sulfate, colloidal silicon dioxide (Aerosil 200), magnesium stearate.
Description:
A selective COX-2 inhibitor with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Used for short-term treatment of acute gouty arthritis, as well as for relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis.
Indications for use:
- Acute gouty arthritis in adults and adolescents ≥16 years.
- Short-term treatment of pain following dental surgery (maximum 3 days).
- Symptomatic relief in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis where other therapies are insufficient.
Dosage and method of administration:
- For acute gouty arthritis - 120 mg once daily, up to 8 days.
- For post-dental surgery pain - 90 mg once daily, maximum 3 days.
- Swallow tablet whole with water, with or without food.
- Dose and duration for other indications should be determined by a physician.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to etoricoxib or any excipients.
- Active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Severe hepatic or renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 ml/min).
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Children <16 years.
- Heart failure (NYHA II–IV), ischemic heart disease, stroke, uncontrolled hypertension, inflammatory bowel disease.
Precautions:
- Use with caution in elderly patients and those with hepatic or renal impairment.
- Monitor blood pressure, kidney and liver function during long-term use.
- May cause gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, dermatological, and neurological adverse effects.
- Avoid co-administration with warfarin and other anticoagulants.
Side effects:
- Very common: abdominal pain.
- Common: edema, dizziness, headache, palpitations, hypertension, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, increased ALT/AST, fatigue.
- Uncommon: infections, anemia, hypersensitivity, insomnia, tremor, musculoskeletal pain.
- Rare: angioedema, anaphylaxis, severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Not recommended for women planning pregnancy.
Storage conditions:
Store in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 30°C, protected from light.
