Composition:

Each 30 ml/ 2 tablespoons contain:

Acetaminophen 1000 mg

Dextromethorphan HBr 30 mg

Doxylamine succinate 12.5 mg

Inactive ingredients:

Saccharin, Sorbitol 70%, Glycerin, Propylene glycol, Polyethylene glycol, Menthol, Sodium benzoate, Peppermint flavor, purified water

Properties:

-Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic agent used to treat pain and fever;

-Dextromethorphan is in a class of medications called antitussives. It works by decreasing activity in the part of the brain that causes coughing;

-Doxylamine is an antihistamine, used to relieve symptoms of allergy, hay fever, and the common cold. This medication works by blocking certain natural substances (histamine, acetylcholine) that your body makes. This effect helps to relieve allergy/cold symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, and sneezing.

Indications:

Temporarily relief of cough, sore throạt, minor aches and pains, runny nose headache and sneezing

Directions for use:

-Adults and children 12 years and over: take 2 tablespoons (30 ml) every 6 hours;

-Do not take more than 8 tablespoons (120 mL) in 24 hours

-Children<12 years:  don’t use due to risk of liver damage

Side effects:

-headache, sleep problems (insomnia); -upset stomach, diarrhea or constipation; -dry eyes, blurred vision, dry mouth or nose; 

-mild dizziness or drowsiness, trouble concentrating; 

-feeling restless or excited (especially in children);

Contraindications:

-children’s age less than 12 years;

-liver and kidney disease;

-if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other medicines containing paracetamol;

-pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Warnings and precautions:

• This product contains acetaminophen. Severe liver damage may occur:

– if you take more than 4 doses (8 tablespoons or 120 ml) in 24 hours, which is the maximum daily amount;

– with other drugs containing acetaminophen

– with 3 or more alcoholic drinks everyday while using this product.

• Sore throat warning: If sore throat is severe, persists for more than 2 days, is accompanied or followed by fever, headache, rash. nausea or vomiting, consult a doctor promptly.

• This product contains sorbitol which may cause softening of the stool
• Do not use if you are now taking a prescription monoamine Oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson’s disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. If you do not know if your prescription drug contains an MAOI, ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.

• Do not use with any other drug containing acetaminophen (prescription or non-prescription). If you are not sure whether a drug contains acetaminophen, ask a doctor or pharmacist.

• Do not use if you are allergic to acetaminophen or any of the inactive ingredients in this product

• Ask your physician before taking Pentaflu syrup if you have glaucoma, liver disease, cough that occurs with too much mucus,  breathing problems such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, persistent or chronic cough such as occurs with smoking, asthma, or emphysema, trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland.

• Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking:

-sedatives or tranquilizers;

-the blood thinning drug warfarin.

• Do not exceed the recommended dose.
• Alcohol, sedatives and tranquilizers may increase drowsiness. Be careful when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery.
• Excitability may occur, especially in children.
• Stop use and ask a doctor immediately if:

-redness or swelling is present;

-new symptoms occur;

-pain or cough gets worse or lasts more than 7 days;

-fever gets worse or lasts more than 3 days;

-cough comes back or occurs with a rash or headache that lasts. 

• If you pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.

• Keep out of reach of children.
