Composition:

Chloramphenicol 0.5 %

Tetryzoline 0.025 %

Dexamethasone 0.1 %

Inactive ingredients: macrogol, alpha tocopherol acetate, methyl hydroxypropyl cellulose, benzalkonium chloride.

Properties:

Orchadexoline sterile ophthalmic solution contains “chloramphenicol”- an antibiotic to treat bacterial infections.

It also contains “dexamethasone”, which is a corticosteroid, an anti-inflammatory substance.

It also contains “tetryzoline”, which is a decongestant.

Indications:

Orchadexoline is used in case of inflammation of the front part of the eye, when the inflammation is bacterial or susceptible to bacterial infection.

Orchadexoline is used only by prescription.

Dosage and administration:

-Instill one drop into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye 3 to 5 times daily.

-In severe cases, the dose can be increased to one drop every hour during the first 24 to 48 hours.

-If there is no improvement of your eye disorder after 3 days of treatment, you should consult your eye doctor immediately.

-Orchadexoline should not be used for more than 10 days.

-If you are placing two medications inside the eye, you must wait 5 minutes between each medication.

-Patients over the age of 65 years can use Orchadexoline.

-Orchadexoline is not prescribed for newborns from the age of (one to 27 days).

-Due to the risk of side effects (Cushing’s syndrome), caution is advised when using Orchadexoline in infants and young children (28 days to 23 months).

-Women of childbearing age: Please consult your physician before using Orchadexoline.

-Do not change the dose prescribed for you on your own, whether the daily dose or the duration of treatment. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel the medication is too weak or too strong.

Side effects:

Common:

Mild, transient burning in the eye, bitter taste immediately after distillation, eye pain and blurred vision, increased eye pressure, dilating and changing the pupil of the eye.

Rare: eye infection, wound healing disorders, corneal thinning, upper eyelid drooping, mydriasis and allergies.

Contraindications:

-Do not use Orchadexoline if you are allergic to any of the active ingredients, dexamethasone, chloramphenicol, tetryzoline, or any of the other components of Orchadexoline.

-Orchadexoline is not used in cases of glaucoma, ulcers, or any external damage to the cornea.

-Orchadexoline is not used in patients with a blood disease, severe liver impairment, or in patients with a family history of bone marrow dysfunction (aplastic anemia).

-Orchadexoline is not used in case of eye inflammation caused by a viral infection.

Orchadexoline is not used in case of fungal infection.

-Orchadexoline is not prescribed for newborns from the age of (one to 27 days).

Warnings and precautions:

• Should not be used for more than 10 days.
• This medication can cause side effects that affect vision (such as blurred vision), so do not drive your car or use machines until these symptoms disappear.
• Tell your doctor if you have other diseases (such as high eye pressure, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, heart rhythm disorder, diabetes, age-related hyperthyroidism, rhinitis sicca) or if you have allergies.
• Orchadexoline eye drops cannot be used with any other medicines at the same time (including oral tablets), so you must tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines with Orchadexoline to schedule them.
• Orchadexoline cannot be used randomly against all infections of the anterior part of the eye. To avoid any complications, Orchadexoline should not be used without a prescription.
• In rare cases, treatment with chloramphenicol may cause bone marrow disease (reduced bone marrow or decreased blood cell formation), even in the case of topical treatment in the eye. This disease can occur even weeks or months after treatment and has serious consequences.
• Do not apply Orchadexoline eye drops if you are taking medicines that change the composition of red blood cells (blood-forming agents) such as sulfonylureas (anti-diabetes medicines such as glipizide, gliclazide, glibenclamide), coumarin derivatives (anticoagulants), and sedatives (such as phenytoin). , which is used to treat epilepsy) and tumor suppressive drugs (medications against cancer such as methotrexate).
• Orchadexoline eye drops contain the preservative “benzalkonium chloride”, which can build up on soft contact lenses and discolor them. For this reason, Orchadexoline should not be used while wearing contact lenses. In addition, benzalkonium chloride may cause eye irritation.
• It is generally recommended not to wear contact lenses in the event of an infectious eye infection, because there is a risk of spreading germs.
• If no improvement is observed after 3 days of use, another method of treatment must be considered.
• Eye inflammation is also a contagious disease, so please follow general hygiene rules, such as washing hands regularly during the treatment period.
• Close the bottle immediately after use.
• After treatment with medications containing chloramphenicol, severe disorders in the blood formula may occur, some of which are serious and occur in single cases. If some symptoms appear during treatment such as sore throat (angina), high temperature and swelling of the lymph nodes in the throat, stop using this medicine immediately. medication and consult your doctor.

Storage:

Store at a temperature 2-8°C.
