Esomeprazole - 20 mg.
Pharmacological properties:
Mechanism of action:
Esomeprazole inhibits the enzyme H⁺/K⁺-ATPase in the parietal cells of the stomach, reducing the secretion of hydrochloric acid.
Indications for use:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Stomach and duodenal ulcers
Prevention of ulcers caused by taking NSAIDs
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
As part of the Helicobacter pylori eradication regimen.
Method of administration and dosage:
Usual dose for adults:
20 mg once a day, in the morning, 30-60 minutes before meals
The dose is determined depending on the patient's condition.
The most important usual doses are as follows:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophageal erosion:
20 mg once daily for 4 weeks.
The patient may need to take it for another 4 weeks to ensure that the symptoms have completely disappeared.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease with erosive damage to the esophageal wall:
20-40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
Reducing the risk of stomach ulcers caused by taking painkillers:
20-40 mg once daily for 6 months.
Treatment of stomach ulcers caused by taking painkillers:
20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison disease:
80 mg, divided into two doses every 12 hours.
For frequent heartburn and acid reflux:
20 mg once daily for 14 days.
