Each 100 mg ointment contains:

Fusidic acid 2 mg

Properties:

Bacteriostatic antibiotic.

Fusidic acid belongs to the group of fusidins, antimicrobial compounds, the mechanism of action of which is associated with a violation of protein synthesis in a bacterial cell.

Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative cocci are sensitive to fusidic acid, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis (including methicillin-resistant strains), Nocardia asteroides, Corynebacterium minutissimum, Streptococcus pyogenes, Pseudomonas spp., Clostridium spp., Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Inactive against Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Proteus spp. and other Gram-negative bacteria, as well as protozoa and fungi.

Indications:

Skin infections caused by bacteria sensitive to fusidic acid.

Dosage and administration:

Outwardly.

Adults and children from birth to 18 years of age: Apply to the affected areas of the skin in a thin layer 3-4 times a day.

When using gauze dressings, the frequency of application can be reduced to 1-2 times a day.

The duration of treatment depends on the form and severity of the disease and averages 7-14 days.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

With caution: pregnancy, lactation.

Precautionary measures:

Fusiderm should not be applied to the skin around the eyes, since fusidic acid, if it gets into the eyes, causes irritation of the conjunctiva.

Fusiderm ointment contains lanolin and cetyl alcohol, which can cause local allergic skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis).

When using fusidic acid, bacterial resistance may develop. As with other antibiotics, prolonged or repetitive use may increase the risk of developing antibiotic resistance.
