Composition:

Each bilayer tablet contains:
Telmisartan — 40 mg;
Amlodipine (as besylate) — 10 mg.
Excipients: cellulose, stabilizers, and other inactive ingredients (per manufacturer’s specification)

Product Description:

Chartoreg Co is a fixed‑dose combination antihypertensive medicine containing telmisartan and amlodipine.
It is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension, either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and non‑fatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.

Indications for Use:

Treatment of arterial hypertension in adults.
Part of comprehensive cardiovascular risk management (lipid control, diabetes management, antithrombotic therapy, smoking cessation, exercise, sodium restriction).
Patients requiring combination therapy to achieve target blood pressure levels.

Method of Administration and Dosage:

  • Tablets should be swallowed whole, without splitting.
  • Usual starting dose: 5/40 mg once daily.
  • Dose may be increased after at least 2 weeks; maximum recommended dose is 10/80 mg once daily.
  • Most antihypertensive effect occurs within 2 weeks, maximum reduction within 4 weeks.
  • May be taken with or without food.
  • Initial therapy is not recommended in patients over 75 years or with hepatic impairment.

Contraindications:

Known hypersensitivity to telmisartan, amlodipine, or any component of the product.
Concomitant use of aliskiren in patients with diabetes mellitus or renal impairment (GFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m²).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Precautions:

Drugs acting on the renin‑angiotensin system during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy can cause severe fetal and neonatal complications (renal dysfunction, oligohydramnios, pulmonary hypoplasia, skeletal malformations).
Therapy must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is detected.
Monitor renal function and blood pressure regularly.

Adverse Effects:

Telmisartan: adverse reactions are rare and not dose‑dependent.
Amlodipine: dose‑dependent peripheral edema is the most common side effect.
Other possible effects include headache, dizziness, fatigue, and nausea.

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Contraindicated.
Telmisartan should not be used during pregnancy.
Amlodipine has been reported in breast milk, but data are insufficient to determine effects on infants or milk production.

Storage Conditions:

Store at 15–30 °C, in a dry place, protected from moisture, and out of reach of children.
