Properties:
Zyrovazet is a medicine that combines rosuvastatin and ezetimibe to lower cholesterol.
Zyrovazet tablets are used in adults to lower levels of total cholesterol, “bad” cholesterol, and triglycerides in the blood. In addition, it increases levels of good cholesterol.
Zyrovazet tablets reduce cholesterol in two ways, by reducing the amount of cholesterol absorbed in the digestive tract, as well as the cholesterol made by the body.
Cholesterol is one of many fatty substances found in the blood. Total cholesterol consists mainly of “bad” cholesterol and “good” cholesterol. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol is often called “bad” cholesterol because it can accumulate In the walls of the arteries forming plaques or deposits, the buildup of these plaques can eventually lead to narrowing of the arteries. This narrowing can slow or block blood flow to vital organs such as the heart and brain. Blocking blood flow can lead to heart attacks or strokes.
High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol is often called the “good” cholesterol because it helps prevent harmful cholesterol from building up in the arteries and protects against heart disease.
Triglycerides are another form of fat in the blood that may increase the risk of heart disease.
This medicine is used for patients whose cholesterol levels cannot be controlled by diet alone. You must adhere to a cholesterol-lowering diet while using Zyrovazet.
Rosuvastatin lowers cholesterol as it is the specific inhibitor (3 hydroxy-3-methyl-glutril coenzyme A-reductase) that converts (HMG-CoA) to mevalonate which is an essential step that limits the biosynthesis of cholesterol. The enzyme catalyzing the conversion of rosuvastatin lowers total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol ApoB in familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia and variant forms of dyslipidemias, rosuvastatin also lowers VLDL-cholesterol and triglycerides and leads to increased levels of HDL-cholesterol.
Ezetimibe: reduces cholesterol in the blood by blocking the absorption of cholesterol from the small intestine. It reduces total LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and increases levels of HDL cholesterol.
The combination of rosuvastatin and ezetimibe is effective in improving levels of total “bad” LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and “good” HDL cholesterol along with the individual effect of each compound.
Indications:
-As a treatment with a diet to reduce elevated total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol.
-As an adjunct with diet to treat patients with elevated triglyceride levels.
-With heart patients to reduce the rise of LDL cholesterol to less than 100 mg / dl.
-Homozygous familial cases of high cholesterol.
