Composition:

Active Ingredient:
Gatifloxacin 3 mg/ml (0.3%).
Excipients:
Sterile aqueous vehicle, tonicity and buffering agents, preservative (benzalkonium chloride).

Product Description:

Tymer is a broad-spectrum 4th-generation fluoroquinolone antibacterial ophthalmic solution.
It exerts a bactericidal effect by inhibiting key bacterial enzymes, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which disrupts bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair processes, leading to cell death.
It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative ocular pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Pseudomonas spp.

Indications for Use:

• Treatment and prevention of superficial bacterial eye infections caused by gatifloxacin-susceptible microorganisms:
  Bacterial conjunctivitis.
  Blepharitis and keratitis.
  Other superficial ocular infections.
  Prevention of post-operative and post-traumatic ocular infectious complications.

Method of Administration and Dosage:

• For topical ophthalmic use (instillation into the conjunctival sac):
• Days 1–2: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) every 2 hours (up to 8 times daily).
• Days 3–7: Instill 1 drop 4 times daily for the next 5 days.
• Duration of Therapy: Typically 5 to 7 days, depending on the severity of the infection. Shake the bottle well before use.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity or allergy to gatifloxacin, other fluoroquinolones, or any excipients in the formulation.
Pediatric populations unless explicitly authorized by relevant clinical guidelines for specific age groups.

Precautions:

• Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eyelids, eyelashes, or ocular surface to prevent solution contamination and eye injury.
• Contains benzalkonium chloride, which may be absorbed by soft contact lenses.
• Remove contact lenses prior to instillation and reinsert no sooner than 15 minutes post-application.
• Prolonged antibiotic use may result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi.

Adverse Reactions / Side Effects:

Ocular Reactions: Transient burning or stinging, mild ocular irritation, conjunctival hyperemia, dry eye, lacrimation, or eyelid edema.
Systemic Reactions: Rarely, headache or dysgeusia (taste disturbance).

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Pregnancy:
Use during pregnancy only if the expected maternal benefit outweighs potential risks to the fetus.
Lactation:
Data on the excretion of topical gatifloxacin into human milk is limited.
Exercise caution when administering to nursing mothers.

Storage Conditions:

Store at temperatures not exceeding 25°C in a dry, light-protected place. 
Keep out of reach of children.
Once opened, use within the recommended period (typically 28 days).
